A Band of Brothers

Christian Vision for Men

MALEs Men's Work and Events

MALEs (Men As Learners and Elders) and the Male Journey is not just about the Men's Rites of Passage, there are quite a lot of things happening throughout the UK which follow the MALEs ethos to help men to engage in their spirituality.

Journey of Illumination

Becoming an Initiated Man on the Men's Rites of Passage is the start of your Journey of Illumination.  The Journey of Illumination challenges you to show up and pay attention daily to the need to overcome the weight of your routine in order to realise a full, intense and well-grounded spiritual journey. Doing so is not easy, but it does involve clear elements:

• Show up and observe (Centring)

• Show up and get together (Gathering)

• Show up and share (Connecting)

• Show up and let go (Releasing)

Keeping the Edges Hot

Where: St Mary's Wycliffe, near Scotch Corner DL12 9TT (Nearest railway station is Darlington).

Rite of Affirmation

There is an invitation to all initiated men to come to the Rite of Affirmation.

This is a newly developed rite, by Richard Rohr and first run in Arizona, Oct 2009 which Adrian Scott and Stephen Ashton attended. We will be running the rites in the UK (currently planned for Apr 2011) and you are invited to take part.

It develops on the themes of the rites of passage and asks us to continue them, through concrete action and prayer. There is a formation time of at least a year culminating in the rites of affirmation.

The Male Journey

Brothers - welcome to networking site for the UK wing of Men as Learners and Elders - MALE's UK - all those men who have  initiated through the Men's Rites of Passage or anyone who is interested in the Male Spirituality work of Richard Rohr.

Local Groups

Meeting in local groups and sitting in a circle of men as brothers is a key part of menswork. Groups meet at many locations around the UK. Most meet monthly on a weekday evening and often use some form of sharing circle as the main way of being.
